Mountain bike – a bike designed mainly for riding in varied, mountainous terrain. The design of the bicycle is usually based on an aluminium frame combined with a suspended fork. Characteristic equipment includes 26″, 27.5″ or 29″ wheels, off-road tread tyres, wide handlebars, external derailleurs and effective mechanical or hydraulic brakes.
